The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has launched a dedicated WhatsApp chatbot service that allows customers to check and pay their policy premiums online—right from their WhatsApp app, anytime, anywhere.
This new service is designed to improve customer convenience, reduce manual work, and make digital interactions smoother for over 2.2 crore registered LIC portal users.
What LIC Said in Its Official Announcement
“This feature offers an alternative digital payment channel to LIC customers. Registered portal users can identify due policies using WhatsApp number 8976862090 and make premium payments via UPI, net banking, or debit/credit card—all within the WhatsApp chatbot interface itself.”
LIC’s Managing Director and CEO, Siddhartha Mohanty, stated that this WhatsApp-based premium payment facility will enhance productivity, efficiency, and deliver seamless customer service.

How to Use LIC WhatsApp Services to Pay Premiums
To use the WhatsApp services, follow these simple steps:
Save the LIC WhatsApp number: 8976862090 on your phone.
Type and send ‘Hi’ on WhatsApp to this number.
The chatbot will reply with a list of 15 service options, including premium payment, policy status, loan eligibility, and more.
Select the appropriate option by replying with the corresponding number.
For premium payment, the chatbot will guide you to view due policies and allow direct payments via UPI, Net Banking, Debit/Credit Cards.
After successful payment, a receipt will be generated instantly on WhatsApp.
